The effect of growth retardants
on Allium sphaerocephalon L. yielding

Summary

The effect of flurprimidol – 30 mg·dm-3, daminozyde – 8500 mg·dm-3 and chlormequat – 1000 mg·dm-3 applied in a form of soaking bulbs before planting or spraying plants in a phase of a green bud on growth and yielding of A. sphaerocephalon. It was found out that soaking bulbs with flurprimidol increases the weight of total yield. Treatment of plants with daminozyde in two ways of application causes increase of flower number in an inflorescence. Soaking bulbs in chlormequat causes the biggest retardation of growth of inflorescence stem, while applied in
a form of soaking increases the number of bulbs in total yield. None of retardants used in the experiment had any effect on an inflorescence stem.
